VoJan Motorsports
Team

The same group has been doing this since the nineties.

VoJan Motorsports was formed in 1987 by John Volpe and Rob Janovic Jr. The crew has been largely the same group for most of the ride, and some of the businesses on the car have been with it nearly as long.

01The people

Who does what on a race night.

John VolpeOwner

Rob Janovic Jr.Co-owner and driver

Known around the pit area as The Godfather. Racing since the Enduro divisions in the late 1980s, 26 SK Modified wins, 2007 track champion, and still the one under the car on a Wednesday.

Greg HannerCrew chief and spotter

On the radio since the late 1990s. Spent 34 years building custom homes at BROM Builders before retiring in 2020, and is Broker/Owner of Garden Realty.

Greg TerraccianoCrew

Owns Flanders Donut & Bake Shop in East Lyme, which has been on the car since the team formed in 1987.

02Consistency

Fourteen seasons without a bad year.

The team finished no worse than fifth in the SK Modified points for fourteen consecutive seasons, 2002 through 2015, including a runner-up to Dennis Gada in 2008. That is not luck. It is the same trailer, the same Wednesday nights, and the same people showing up.

  • One owner, one driver. John Volpe has fielded the car for Rob for the majority of his Speedbowl career.
  • Same crew. The group in the pits has stayed together for decades, which is unusual in any division.
  • Still turning up. The team is nearer the end of the run now, and still racing the nights it chooses.

03Behind the car

The businesses that keep it out there.

Flanders Donut & Bake Shop has been on the car since 1987, and the team has never run a season without them. Macara Vehicle Services and Big A Auto Parts carry the car now.
